hot on the heels of system of survivals latest album and exclusively on vinyl comes the d-votion ep to get physical music. the influential house duo present cuts from the album, d-votion and no time to waste,d-votion is laid out first a deep and groovy dancefloor track with low end grit and a funky swing it its step. a collaboration with salvatore stallone the track is very moving and nearly impossible to resist. no time to waste plays a hypnotically rhythmic synth over a steamy stage of sweaty percussion. next we turn to the brand new vinyl-exclusive acid house number phantom power for a heavy dose of midnight action. with a very technoid feel, the acids presence suspensefully builds a tension throughout while the bassline chugs the track further. next surfbit joins to present searching for a wave, another track featured on the album. this one shines more sun with warm synths, soft vocals and gentle melodies. the collaboration ends the ep on a warm note, a special sound for a special dancefloor moment.

voodoo down returns to the compilation series that started it all: possible side effects vol.1, released in late 2012, was the first release on the brooklyn-based label and marked the inception of a concept ep series that would come to define the labels sound. featuring an a1 cut by german journeyman producer stl and rounded out by the label founders’ eclectic techno styles, pse vol. i was the perfect vehicle for the producers still working to carve out their own individual aesthetic. now with a dozen releases under their belt, the founders l estasi dell oro, nconduit and 12 x 12 have returned to their roots and this time recruited the prolific berlin-based producer deadbeat for volume three of the series. like the first two volumes, its a slightly chaotic mix of beefy dance floor tools and heady experimentation. the separate personalities shine through more than ever on this release. vdr always striving to keep things interesting.

over the years, lo recordings has taken pride in exploring a wide and broad range of sounds, genres and styles. to mark 20 years of lo recordings, we are taking a fresh and bold approach with our output to further explore the accelerating and refined developments in electronic music today. this is the first of our new phase of releases, a collaborative project between the two titans mr. g and k15. ‘a learning curve’ is exactly as the title suggests, an educational experience to un- derstand each other musically and technically, and to explore new territories and schools of thought. as avid users and fans of the mpc, as well as being extremely busy, both mr. g and k15 were given the same samples dug out of the lo recordings archives to each create a track which would remotely display their techniques and methods. this was quick- ly adopted to be the theme in a series of three releases to come out throughout the year from the pair. the results come in the form of mr. g’s mesmerising ‘navigate’ and k15’s introspective ‘the guilt within’, two very individual tracks in their own rights. ‘navigate’ is instantly recognisable as the work of its creator, armed and ready to bring the dance floor to hypnotic heights. with its rough and gritty sound, driving kick & synth stabs, and hauntingly majestic keys, we are thrown into peak of the night. on the flip, ‘the guilt within’ takes a turn to more ominous terri- tories, crafting an atmosphere on the other end of the spectrum to ‘navigate’. a beautiful and delicate journey carried along by light skipping percussion, immersive sweeping pads and a puls- ing sub which all come together to take the listener deep inside themselves.

massimiliano pagliara debuts on ostgut ton with his new ep, time and again. born and raised in the deep south of italy massimiliano pagliara made his way to berlin in 2001, quickly diving headfirst into the german capital’s club scene (particularly berghain’s predecessor club, ostgut) until he started djing in 2003. by the time of his joining with ostgut booking agency in october 2015 massi had already constantly delivered – the dj and producer has left a strong mark on house music throughout the years with energetic, playful and deep sets behind the decks, two acclaimed solo albums on live at robert johnson and various collaboration projects. his residency at panorama bar therefore was a no-brainer – but the musical link by one of house music’s finest with the club’s label was still missing. now massi steps up with four new tracks and his first release on ostgut ton.

following their much-acclaimed surprise debut album vermont from 2014, motor city drum ensembles danilo plessow and innervisions marcus worgull reunite for more synth daydreaming on the suitably titled ii. the new outing continues where the first full-length left off, strolling further down the luminous and undulating path that the duo turned into, influenced in equal measures by kosmische, krautrock, minimal wave and synth soundtracks.

after 25 years of silence, the ethiopian legend girma bèyènè is back alongside one of the best ethio groups akalé wubé. comes in a double lp gatefold 180g vinyl! girma bèyènè is a true legend when it comes to ethiopian music. after an exile to the united states and a radio silence that lasted 25 years, he jubilantly accepted the invitation from the french group akalé wubé to return to the spotlight and perform once more. the comeback took place last september during a memorable concert alongside akalé wubé at the studio de l’ermitage (paris 20). french medias like tracks (arte), le monde, libération relayed this major event, which aroused many strong emotions amongst fans of ethiopian music. the adventure could not stop just yet.

under the moniker shed, pawlowitz published three highly ambitious albums in which he defined his work more and more as his own way of musical narration. the final experiment? is definitely the temporary highlight of this evolution. as musical work it does establish shed conclusively as one of the most interesting and substantial electronic music artists of our time. it carries a vibe, that links shed to other boundary breaking artists such as ryuichi nakamoto, brian eno and carsten nicolai. however, shed found a way to develop a highly individual way of communicating electronic music, that is self-sufficient. the last experiment is a mostly homogeneous piece of work, a meditation, where the stylistic confusion seems less important than then musical statement that it represents.

new kid felix leifur made quiet a stir with his debut release on dirt crew last year. the icelandic juggernaut comes from the striving reykjavik music scene and is working closely with the lagaffe tales guys on building a new northern house empire. since his debut hes been working hard on creating a more varied vision of his unique lo slung hip hop approach to house music. with this ep he offers six new outings that have one thing in common, very warm and moody sounds ranging from disco through jazz and hip hop. were certain that he will continue to further cement his name in the coming years and were looking forward to working with him on plenty of exciting projects. opening with eyelids, felix delivers a rough, deep and dark house cut with broken beats, warped piano loops and twisted sampling throughout. classy has a smoky jazz feeling, kept tight with clever beat programming while evolving around a catchy sax motif. our personal fav is the title track, in general, a stunning broken beat house jam, smooth and loose, with swirling keys and a funk flavoured bass. the b-side begins with midwinter, a dance floor gem on a straight up junket. its deep, forward moving and bass driven, much like his track feels like that featured on our deep love compilation in 2016. yet another highlight for us is apollo, theres not many records out there that sound quite like this, thoroughly warped and contorted, depraved strings and a hypnotising rhodes arc and strain until the bass drops and it all falls in place psychedelic beauty! he closes with mine, a dope lo fi hip hop beat that casually wraps our ears, an ice cold soul infused piece.

returning to hypercolour with a second volume of his sugar cane chronicles, gary gritness lays down more devastating funk and classy riffing over his trusty roland 606. after the first volume, released last april, sold out its vinyl run, gritness delivers more explorations and adventures into his unique and soulful world. having elusively built his reputation as an outstanding session player, live producer and fantastically dressed funkateer, gritness has delivered a handful of releases on labels like clone crown ltd, nyami nyami and his own diy and cassette-only slikk tapes. steady choosin gets downright fusion-jazz and gritness fires out seductive melodies and latin piano playing of the highest order whilst countin up with starr delves into a darker well of synth mania, with a sexual groove reminiscing of rick james, all the while retaining garys signature licks and riffs. runner joes revenge on the flip ramps up the hysteria for a gritty and colossal production that typifies his love of cyberpunk soundtracks and the drama and narrative to be found in this style. the sugar cane chronicles vol. 2 closes with the low-slung pool shark loot wrapping up on a mysterious and captivating tone, its wandering bassline and melodic touches carrying all the signature gritness sounds, with the p-funk sleaziness on top.

mary janes theory is the first vinyl-release on austrian producer demujas own label muja. featuring four cuts that reflect the many shades of house music right now. side a sees a more funkier edge to the sound whilst keeping a certain raw flavour whilst the b side goes deeper. comes hand stamped with love.

groovepressure is excited to be re-releasing two tracks from the first ever groovepressure release. resonators is groovepressure honcho robin ball and long time school friend salman montiero. made in 1999 in a very small studio in robin s house, robin remembers -getting them pressed and taking them to the shops i loved in london to see if they would sell them and getting a really good reaction from the shop staff. not that it was going to be a big commercial success or anything like that, more because the tracks had a unique sound and i think still do today. the underground scene then was a lot more freestyle but even in that atmosphere it was an unusual release. since then it s been one of the most sort after releases from the groovepressure back catalogue. it s an exciting time to be re-releasing this with the re-emergence of the label. booma and shuzzbuzz have been re-mastered and remixed by robin ball.

for the first release coming in 2017 macadam mambo strikes very hard with a very special ep of radical dance music by the german band the blech revisited by hambourg’s based artist wosto. the blech released 6 lp between 1985 and 1996. their albums have become a treasure-trove of extravagant, groovy dance hall artistry. the forcefulness with which the blech flung their conviction from the stage into the audience was at once hypnotic, irritating and erotic. here wosto has selected two tracks from the zip zip lp originally released in 1987 (nichts wie vorher and zip zip) and one from the ich wollte meine schuhe zerschneiden lp (die einame trane) released in 1989, and transform them into strong powerfull dancefloor cuts. be sure of the efficient of the product, no need to talk more, let the music speak by itself. special mention for the magnificient artwork of lyons based artist hugo charpentier from the mauvaise foi collective

the record opens up with the poisonous title-track “two scorpios”, where sharp analogue leads lean on a relentless disco-funk groove, thrusting us out straight against the sweaty walls of the chicago’s muzic box. the airy and enchanting spirals of “solenoid” create a detachment for a sonic trip through circling arpeggios and sparkles. on the flip side, we reconnect abyssy to the “young soulomon” of early 90’s by a warm and robotics dusty house. the mood turns definitely more freaky with “slomo kid”: sampling divertissement with a punkish flavour and emphatic rhythmics, it is the perfect tune to shake down the whole ball of wax.

alexander palmestal was fifty procent of the electro duo pistol disco - a band that during the 00’s bustled around in the music scene of gothenburg and became known for having a certain sound and for their unpredictable and often magical live shows. the later incarnation of the band took a step away from the german 70’s influences to move towards a more club friendly universe. in 2015 the band released the 7inch goo/pool on hoga nord rekords which was their last release and now palmestal, under the name mythologen, make a release on hoga nord rekords.

sinfol readies a two-part release on his anagram label featuring anetha, elad magdasi, octual and more. curated by amsterdam s sinfol, volume 1 of phasing faces will feature himself alongside italy s davide, berlin s elad magdasi and parisian producer anetha. meanwhile volume 2 will see core anagram artist octual helm the package, joined by mathame, who s appeared on krill music and souvenir music, as well as maukook who s also known under his dj playstation moniker. sinfol s dark and ominous trembling lays down a cacophony of sounds whilst a mesmerizing voice operates on top. the ethereal and rhythmic ono from da?vide then introduces soaring synths and various spectral nuances before work them records producer and blocaus resident anetha s acid train lives up to its name with an infectious 303 and raves stabs. tying things together, front left records elad magdasi s two floors closes off the release in an epic manner with thudding kicks and otherworldly melodies.

advanced deep driving techno from amsterdam! jp enfant s let recordings continues to slowly but surely build a fine reputation, and in fact his last ep on the label featured a track, sirens , which got used to great effect by daniel avery on his acclaimed dj kicks mix. now a fourth interesting ep on let recordings comes from shoal, who makes his first out on vinyl after a digital release on planet rhythm in october. utrecht based shoal aims to balance his techno sounds somewhere between rhythmic hypnosis and detailed soundscaping. he urges listeners to twitch out of their comfort zone and to really engage with his music. that is made all the more easy given that it is such inventive stuff. a powerful ep from this emerging new artist.

we proudly present the first single side ep in house, proudly curated by relevant name eduardo de la calle and mtheorem, a very talented produced already seen on kapvt mvndi records from blackwater label. a two tool bomb tracks ep with touch and velvet approach, obviously related to the knowledge and experience of eduardo de la calle but probably the featuring of mtheorem gave a particular extravagance taste to the release.
“andes echoes” is a proper techno tool track with psychedelic and trippy atmospheres all around. pure music.
“kalpabriksha” is a more aggressive techno track with some modern influences and a super hypnotic lead.

vanta series is the new series for killekill’s dancefloor music. the releases come in series, every series comes with a theme and one artwork which is being split in several parts to go with each release. the first series is called “the end is near” and features four records. it comes with an artwork by french visual artist elzo durt. vanta 003 comes from eomac under his alias eeoo. eeoo is a side project for what is, in eomac’s mind, straight up, techno-rave-house-jungle- disco influenced, dancefloor material. it draws influence from classic styles of dance music. less dense, less conceptual than the eomac-music. less focussed on texture and atmosphere, a more direct approach for sweaty ravers and moving bodies.
